Border & Lakeland Holstein Club
Spring Pedigree Bull Show & Monthly Show & Sale

WEDNESDAY 17th MARCH 2004

REPORT

The Border and Lakeland Holstein club launched a new Spring Pedigree Bull Show & Sale to compliment the successful September evening event.

Held on Wednesday 17th March 2004 in Borderway Mart the sale attracted some very classy well-bred bulls, predominately of PI breeding with some blended and a few pure British Friesian. There was a large crowd of serious buyers prepared to bid decent money for the best, resulting in a most encouraging trade.

Warnelview Kayak Mr Kevin Wilson, vendor, Graham Brooks, Coomara Representative, Judge George Robinson

The top price of 3,000gns was for a Reserve Champion Warnelview Kayak, a Jock Besne son off three Excellent “Kate” cows, from the Wilson’s prize-winning herd. Securing the bid was RLG Taylor, Dryfesdalegate, Lockerbie.

Petteril Sensomatic PI Mr Steven Morley, vendor, Graham Brooks, Coomara Representative, Judge George Robinson

The overall Champion “Petteril Sensomatic PI” made 2,600gns and was of the magic Stormatic x Jed x being out of the EX92 Bricknell Jed Sensation, whose daughters will feature in the forthcoming Bricknell dispersal at Carlisle. Mr M Swires, Whin Hill Farm, Harrogate takes home this Stormatic son.

Holstein

At 2,700gns was a Progress x Roxy bull from Hunday, Hunday Robert 2 PI. He now enters the Craighouse herd of the Firm of R Black, Craighouse, Corrie, Lockerbie.

Reserve Female Champion Mr Wilson, vendor, Lorraine Phillips, Paragon represenative, Judge George Robinson 'Farleton'

The fresh second calver by Caernarvon Jogger, off a VG88 Sabbiona Bookie cow with over 10,000kgs was much admired and, at 1,200gns must represent very good value for the new owners of the Carrock herd, Messrs Brough, Buckabank, Dalston, Carlisle.
