The herd, a blend of Holstein Friesian was much respected by the large crowd of buyers who were astute enough to see value potential and wearability in a genuine stock of homebred cattle. The herd has always been run on a low input, grass based regime geared to margins rather than big yields.

Top price of the day was £1,000 for a fresh heifer by Genus Townley and amongst the half a dozen other animals over £800 were three summer calving 2nd lactation cows by Snow n Denver.

In particular demand was the smart batch of served heifers, due May onwards to a Limousin bull. These sold consistently well with many making £750 or more. The same strong demand manifested itself with the bulling and maiden heifers.
