Sale Report
On Wednesday 10th December 2003 a large crowd of commercial buyers from all over the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland turned out and bid keenly for good quality, milk recorded commercial Holsteins from Monktonhill, Ayrshire.

This total dispersal of over 330 head completed the Farmcare (Co-op’s) remaining Scottish Dairy enterprise.

Of particular encouragement to the auctioneers was the enthusiasm despite soaring milk quota prices for animals of all ages and all stages of lactation, but in particular for the top end of the recently calved heifers and second calvers.

There were a dozen young cows and heifers making over £1,000, the top price being £1,400 for an October calved daughter of Starkey Merr Marathon with her heifer calf by Silver Post Sinatra made £400 and at £1,300 was a heavy milking Southwind second calver.
