LILLYHALL DISPERSAL SALE

A 14,000 gns headline price was top call at the Lillyhall Sale held at Borderway on Wednesday 6th August for Messrs A & C Watson, Cockermouth.

14,000gns top: Overside Jolt Tammy which brought the Lillyhall sale’s best price.

The leading price was achieved by the outstanding Overside Jolt Tammy EX92. This Second Look Jolt daughter sold to Smiddiehill Holsteins, Wolverhampton near calving with her fourth calf. Having produced 14,727 kgs in 305 days of her third lactation, she is scored EX92 and completes five successive generations of EX cows. Her grand dam is the world famous Ripvalley NA Bell Tammy EX94, dam of numerous VG and EX daughters together with the proven sires Tonic and Target. This family is noted for their exceptional type and production and has recently produced Emerald Acres SA T Dawson, the number 2 sire in the US and now number 3 sire in France and the leading protein bull in the breed.

Second top price at 6,000 gns was the two year old Painley Leduc Kimo 62nd who sold in calf and due in November to Jordan and is bred from 7 successive generations of VG and EX cows from the noted Kimo family, her Juror dam, a show winner and 14,000 kgs producer is best known to the purchaser, Messrs J & V Barlow, Nantwich who own the successfully Painley herd.

At 3,400 gns, Mr H Kennedy, Tarbolton, Ayr took home the fourth lactation Overside Mandel Precious EX92 to join his Stair herd. Having given over 12,000 kgs in her second and on course for another big lactation this time she completes 8 generations of EX or VG cows and is a daughter of the world famous Clover Mist Black Peach EX.

At 3,100 gns was the two year old Almond Reward Avis VG and Lentini daughter Lamb Rolls 10 VG 85. Respective purchasers for these two exciting first lactation milking animals were Smiddiehill Holsteins and Messrs M & J Holland who were rewarded for their long journey from Umberleigh in Devon.

Twenty animals achieved prices in excess of 2,000 gns with buyers from as far afield as Aberdeenshire, Devon, Dyfed and Northern Ireland, A packed audience appreciated the high quality cattle on offer with demand being strong for all types and ages.
