THE INGST DISPERSAL SALE
For Mr J Harding Bristol Sales Centre, Easter Compton Thursday 27th February 2003 The
milking portion (240 head) of the Ingst Herd of Registered and Non-Registered
Holsteins were dispersed at the Bristol Sales Centre to a keen audience
when John Harding decided to cease milk production in the UK and emigrate
to Austrailia.
Fresh or recently calved cattle met the strongest demand as producers looked to top up on milk going in to the final month of the current milk year. Local and national buyers were represented with plenty of cattle making over 700 guineas. Top call of the day came for Lot 65, a September 02 second calver by Cogent FG Donovan, out of a 7,400kg registered dam, who had opened her account with an 8,200kg 1st lactation and still milking 30kgs daily was second back in calf to Crichel Principal sexed semen. She sold to local buyer Mr A.P Humphris, Wick, Bristol at 920gns £966.00 Second top call came early in the day when Lot 78 a fresh calved 3rd calver by Ballycairn Treasure giving 41.3kgs sold at 900gns to Rupert Slay Limited, Frome, Somerset. Lot 6, a fresh 2nd calved heifer by Bellwood giving 34kgs sold at 860gns to Messrs Gibbons, Temple Cloud, Bristol. At 860gns, Lot 62 a November calved heifer by Lucko giving 37kg sold locally FG & DM Hall at Slimbridge, Gloucester. Volume buyers DJ & DE Dew & Sons took a number of young cattle back to Warwickshire as did Messrs Wilkinson, Croule Worcester. Leading Prices:
