Buyers
and friends from Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland jostled in
the large crowds and competed strongly with keen local breeders when the
synonymous Farleton Herd went under the hammer on Friday 15th August 2003.
A study of this catalogue will reveal that nearly all of the well established families were represented in this sale with the top price of the day going to Messrs Grigg, Venton, Monkleigh, Bidford, Devon, represented by D Reynolds of Logrey Holsteins. This stylish VG 2yr old heifer Farleton FJ Dazzle VG88 by Huddlesford Fine Juror PI, sold for 3,100 gns. Her dam, Farleton RS Dazzle VG87, sired by Weeton Ribble Star is currently in her 6th lactation and giving 38kgs daily.
A
VG89 Genus Bradley daughter, Farleton Brad Sunlight, also enters the herd
of Messr Grigg for 1,950gns. This beautiful young cow in her second lactation
is currently giving 30.6kgs daily.
Mr E Taylor Small Hall, Skipton snapped up Farleton Rubens Nancy 3 for 1,700gns. This in-calf heifer by STBVQ Rubens was from one of the foundation families at Farleton ~ the Nancy family. Bred from the 10,565kgs Farleton Tong Nancy 2 VG85, she is in-calf to the Lord Lily son, Silverpost Sinatra.
