The Auchengree Dispersal sale, comprising 222 Holstein Friesians, was held at Borderway Mart, Rosehill, Carlisle on Wednesday 23rd April 2003.
With demand remaining strong the trade saw 12 animals at 1,350gns and
better, up to 3,000gns.
“ It was a privilege to be involved with selling this herd which
is founded on one of the oldest herds in Britain,” said Edward Brown,
Auctioneer.
Auchengree Grandeur VG88, (Lot 73) a noted family favourite, realised 3,000gns to the Annandale herd of Mesr WJ Armour & Sons, The Milton, Moffat. This young cow sold in her second lactation, sired by Comestar Top Gun, she was still producing 35.2kgs daily.
Second top price was 1,650gns for Auchengree Gelpro PI Dixie VG85, a descendent from the Dixie family, which was imported from Canada in 1946. Messr Scott, Netherhall, Largs, Ayrshire takes home this heifer by Gelpro.
The hammer fell at 1,600gns for Auchengree Franchise PI Anna 12 GP84 to RM & N Wainwright & Son Ltd from Castle Farm, Low Hesket, Carlisle. This 2-year-old heifer by Moet Martha Franchise, has produced 7,122kgs in 76 days.
A member of the Lindoris family, Auchengree Gelpro Lindoris VG86, realised 1,500gns to Mr SJ & JE Ogden, Pears Ghyll, Calthwaite, Penrith.
