15th Borderway Black & White
Sale
Almost without exception they had the good sense to realise that, as we have seen at this event since its launch 15 years ago, what they make at the Black & White is probably what they are worth. The catalogue was more varied and as good, if not better, than ever. It was a shame that nearly 30 of the 141 entries were not forward, but the inclusion of a glittering line up of Indianhead heifers served to add extra spice to all the other exceptionally well bred good quality animals. Top price was 9500gns paid by John Jordan of the Ecstasy herd for Indianhead Durham Roxanne ET. This summer 2000 heifer, described as an August carrying the red factor, is bred off 6 Excellent dams, being out of the 17,000kg Sell Crest No Rachel Red Ex 93 and by the unavailable in UK sire Regancrest Elton Durham. The next highest bid was also for an Indianhead calf, Indianhead Win Rhapsody ET a yearling heifer by Winchester, she is a grand daughter of Blackrose from an Excellent Lindy. The successful buyer was Mr. Grigg of Bideford in Devon. One of the most stylish calves in the entire sale was bred and consigned by Jane Steel (of Photographic Fame). Carrying a glorious pedigree (Marcrest Encore from 4 Excellent dams of the Wilsondale Triuna family that average 93.5pts) Lomond Encore Tara ET was knocked down for 5500 guineas to Dumfriesshire breeder John Jamieson of the Annan herd. Average - 91 Females £2,300.16 Leading prices - |
