SANTA LEADS THE WAY AT BRISTOL
The sale saw an increasing demand for this dual purpose native breed with buyers attending the sale coming from all over the UK, which reflected in the strong prices attained.
Topping the sale at 2,400gns was Sexton Santa from RB Harvey of Sexton Farm, Ivybridge, Devon. Santa a December 2000 born son of the noted sire Sexton Hermes 2 and out of Sexton Snowdrop 328, was successfully knocked down to RH Miller of Woodlands Farm, Aylesbury, Bucks. Following shortly after was a senior bull from RW Bostelmann of Rufford, Eccleshall, Staffordshire. Selling at 2,200gns was CPZ Paper Mill Saffron, a January 1993 born bull by Z Paper Mill Trump and going back to Holcombe Effie 12. He was sold to Mrs SM Sadler of Paper Mill Farm, Cheltenham. Next in line at 2,150gns was Welland Valley King George , a young bull consigned by ME & TE Broome of Manor Farm, Market Harborough, Leics. King George is a polled bull by Welland Valley Centurion and out of a daughter of Juniper Ursa. He sold to JM Eustice of Hay Farm, Cornwall. Selling for 2,100gns was Trewint Jubilee Junior 11 from PS Rowe of Trewint, Liskeard, Cornwall. Junior is by bred from the Jubilee family with his sire being Jubilee Junior 10 and his mother going back to Jubilee 18. He sold to R Jelland of Kersworthy Farm, Launceston, Cornwall. Leading the female section at 1,250gns was Sexton Snowdrop 429 a maiden heifer from RB Harvey of Ivybridge, Devon. Sired by the show winning sire AI Sexton Hermes 2, Snowdrop was also purchased by R Jelland of Launceston, Cornwall. Averages: |
