Pedigree Simmental Bulls and Females Harrison & Hetherington held their Autumn show and sale of Pedigree Simmental Cattle. The pre sale show was most ably judged by local breeder Mr Alaistair Houston of Gretna House Farms, Gretna Green. He awarded the Supreme and Male Championship to Drumsleed Mustang, a Crailing Barrister sired, April 2001 born bull consigned by Mr Gerald Smith of Swellhead Farm, Blairs, Aberdeen. Mustang later sold for 2000gns to Messrs McDowall & Co of Calquhasen, Newtown Stewart. Standing in reserve position was Mendick Murdo, an April 2001 born Dovefields Julius son from Mr John Dykes of South Slipperfield, Peebleshire. Murdo is listed in the Society Young Promising Bull scheme and sold for 1600gns and also travelled to South West Scotland to Messrs JM Dalrymple & Son of Auchtralure, Stranraer. 1600gns was also attained by R Hodgson Walker Ltd for Caldwell Mogul a Bemersyde Foremost sired February 2001 born bull. He was purchased by Messrs J Clement & Son of Borgue House, Borgue, Kirkcudbright. In the female section local breeder, Mr Robert Carter of Gerrard House, Wigton attained top honours with Gerrard Alice 3 a very smart March 2001, maiden heifer by Brinkton Brilliant which sold for 1000gns to Mr AD Lambert of Woodend Lodge, Leyburn. Averages - 7 Bulls £1,342.50, 2 Females £997.50. |
