PARTHENAIS SELL TO 2,400GNS Following on from their successful autumn sale in October 2004, Parthenais breeders maintained the demand for the cattle on offer at the official society spring show and sale on Friday 27th May 2005 at Borderway. Local breeder Barry Armstrong of Ghyll Croft, Ainstable, lead the sale at 2,400gns with his 2 year old bull, Sunrise Ullswater. Sired by the French bull, Nervi and out of Houcham Hill Reka, Ullswater was successfully sold to D Mitchell of South Moor House Farm, Newton Mearns. In the female section the entries were made up of a reduction sale from the Pride herd from Mrs Rose Cookes of Eastcote Hall Farm, Solihull. A full French imported cow Roquette sold with her bull calf, Pride Warrior, to top this section at 2,250gns. They were knocked down to Mrs MM Bailey of Churchkirk, Accrington. Close behind at 2,200gns was Potentille from Mrs Cookes consignment. Another imported cow, she sold with her March born bull calf at foot to J Gilmour & Sons of Bankend, Denny, Stirling. Also from the same home and reaching over the 2,000gn mark, was Sucette, a November 2001 born cow with her bull calf at foot Pride Viscount. They also sold to travel north for J Gilmour & Sons of Denny for 2,100gns. Averages – 4
bulls £1,575.00, 5 females (Pride herd reduction) £2,100.00.
