PEDIGREE PARTHENAIS CATTLE

Parthenais females were in demand from a consignment from Cumbrian breeder Barry Armstrong sold at Harrison & Hetherington's Borderway Mart, Carlisle, on Friday October 1st 2004.
Leading the prices at 2,400gns was a four year old cow, Houcham Hill Seka, from Mr Armstrong's herd based at Armathwaite, near Carlisle, which is due to calve her second in January to the French sire Nervi.
Purchaser was Lee Cain, of Springfield Main Road, Crosby, Isle of Many. The cow is by Hari Kiri and out of Eureka.
Sunrise Unique, the first Oblex daughter born in the UK, sold for 1,550gns to R Ekin, of Soarn House, Stewartstown, Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland, who also paid 1,100gns for the four year old cow Houcham Hill Suzzi, which is due to calve to Nervi in March next year.
Mrs MM Bailey, of St James Road, Churchkirk, Accrington, Lancashire, paid the third top price of £1,500gns for Sunrise Splender, a June 2001 born daughter of Nervi, sold with her April-born bull calf at foot, Sunrise Virtue.
