FIRST SAMSON DAUGHTER TOPS LIMOUSIN SALE AT 6,500gns
The first production sale from the Newstart herd of David and Mary
Cormack attracted the top price of 6,500gns at the joint Limousin sale
held at Carlisle on Friday 7th October.

Newstart Virtue sold carrying a beef value of LM+41 is the first Grahams
Samson daughter to be sold by public auction. She was bred from
Rachels Shula, a Ronick Iceman daughter, is one of the best female
lines at Newstart. Virtue, like her mother, has achieved a successful
show career to her credit, and after much brisk bidding she was sold
to Andrew Ewing of Drumbretton, Annan.
Another member of the Newstart show team, Preselihill Rosalin, sold
for 4,000gns. A daughter of Ardbrack Jackofdiamonds and bred
out of a Newsham Garfield daughter, Rosalin was knocked down to Mrs
L Burns of the Seamer herd based at Stokesley.
Other consignments of the sale was the dispersal of the Castlesowerby
herd on behalf of Alan Chapman. Leading this section at 4,600gns
was a big upstanding young cow Ryedale Radiant and her bull calf Castle
Sowerby Angus. Radiant is a daughter of Tanhill Rumpus and her
mothers line carries Tarvis. The outfit were sold to Mark Phillips
who was acting on behalf of a client.
The third entry of the sale was a batch of maiden heifers from the
Wilson herd of Les Wilson. These naturally presented heifers
top up to 650gns.
