4,200GNS TOPS GALLOWSHIELDRIGG LIMOUSIN TRADE

The dispersal sale from the Gallowshieldrigg Limousin herd of Mr AR Afsari, Blackhamilton, Blackford, held on Monday 16th May saw a solid trade led by the 4,200gns paid for the July 2004 born heifer Gallowshieldrigg Vasmeh bought by Harry Emslie Limousins, Kinknochie, Peterhead, Aberdeen. Vasmeh is a Talent daughter and out of Smithston Nina. Heading to the same home is the second top price Gallowshieldrigg Vaphur, this time a Malibu daughter and out of homebred dam Gallowshieldrigg Purdan purchased for 3,100gns.

With over 70 lots on offer including a consignment from the Dashes herd on behalf of Mr R Thornton, Low Road, Wortham, Nr Diss, Norfolk, bidding was brisk at this well-attended sale which saw 28 heifers average £1468 and 33 cows averaging £1341.

Nether Hall Farm Ltd, Mansergh, Kirkby Lonsdale, Lancs was active in the sale ring buying a number of lots to complement its expanding herd including the next four leading prices from the Gallowshieldrigg offering as well as the top price from the Dashes herd. Gallowshieldrigg Um, a 22 month Jockey daughter and out of Stockdales Joanne, went under the hammer for 2,700gns. Close behind on 2,600gns was Valedeh, again by Jockey but this time out of Dedswell Melanie. Gallowshieldrigg Uaysher and Ursi sold for 2,000gns each. Uaysher is by Genus Hidalgo and out of Stockdales Mirtle; Ursi by Ronick Luke and out of Lumbylaw Neap.

Once again with a 2,000gns price-tag was Gallowshieldrigg Tasvir, a December 2002 born heifer by Genus Hidalgo and out of Gallowshieldrigg Nanette. She was purchased in-calf to Rake Terence by JT Nixon & Sons Ltd, Stotsfold Farm, Steel, Hexham, Northumberland.

Top price from the Dashes herd was Dashes Black Rachel, a January 2000 born Willowcrest Black Calibre daughter and out of Dashes Naomi. Presented with heifer calf, Dashes Black Allure at foot, she was knocked down to the Netherhall prefix for 2,500gns.
