CRACROP Limousin herd and STOBARTS Charolais herd

A top bid of 3,000gns led the first on-farm production sale from the Pedigree Cracrop Limousin and Stobarts Charolais herds of David and Marjorie Stobarts sale at Cracrop Farm, Brampton, Carlisle.

Cracrop Sale RingA second calved Limousin cow, Brereton Peninsula, and her heifer calf Cracrop Uppercrust, secured the leading price of 3,000gns. Peninsula, a Brereton Jarvis daughter and out of a Glebedale Vanguard bred dam, was sold to an undisclosed buyer.

The same buyer also secured Brereton Nancy, a third calved Limousin cow with her autumn born bull calf Cracrop Unafraid. Nancy, another daughter of Jarvis and out of an Osiris bred cow, sold for 2,800gns.

The next price to follow was 2,700gns for Cracrop Tradesman, a June 2003 Limousin son of the senior herd stock sire Redrock Orlando. On his mothers pedigree, Tradesman is bred back to Ami and Uplands bloodlines. He sold to Messrs W Tait & Sons of Bulls Hill, Hexham.

Selling for 2,300gns was a Limousin heifer and calf outfit. Brereton Star, a Redrock Orlando daughter and out of a Hydesville Delta bred cow, they were knocked down to another undisclosed buyer.

The Charolais herd produced a leading price of 1,700gns for Tillbrook Nova and her heifer calf Stobarts Vida. Nova, a daughter to Kelton Impresario and out of a Thrunton bred cow, sold to Mr A Ewing of Drumbretton, Annan.

A senior bull, Stobarts Topspur by Chesham Ping Pong, sold for 1,500gns to Mr J Findlay of Red House, Blackburn.

A Charolais maiden heifer, Stobarts Thora was knocked down for 1,400gns. Thora, a daughter of Chathill Meteor, carried a beef value of +26 and sold to Mr D Barr of Newholme Farm, Middlesbrough.

Also selling for 1,400gns was a young Charolais bull, Stobarts Upright a son of Bassingbourn Sangria. He goes to Mr W McNally of Glasson Farm, Glasson, Carlisle.

Charolais Herd – 5 Cows served and/or suckling £1,281.00, 2 Served Heifers £971.25, 13 Maiden Heifers £868.27, 4 Bulls £1,155.00; Commercial Cattle 13 head £822.31
