Brockhurst Limousins attract top bid of 5,000gns
A young imported bull sired by Jersey topped the on-farm sale for Brockhurst
Limousins on Saturday for WJ & M Mash Ltd at Torrington Farm, Chesham.
The very stylist bull Truffaut, by the same sire as the world record
price bull, Grahams Samson, sold for 5,000gns to pedigree breeders
Buriton Estates Ltd of the Miscombe herd based at Petersfield, Hants.
Another bull sold for the next leading price tag of 4,000gns. Brockhurst
Torrington, a class winner at the Royal Welsh Show, is an April 2003
son from the noted show winning cow Ronick McAinsi and by Brockhurst
Premier. He was sold to CV Lewis & Sons to join their Garyvaughan
herd near Welshpool.
Staying with the line up of bulls, Brockhurst Tasmania followed next
selling for 3,800gns. He was by the herds well known show stock bull
Ronick Matador and is bred from a home bred cow Ousha. Tasmania was succussfully
sold to RF Turner & Son of Bassingbourn Farm, Ely.
Selling for 2,800gns was Brockhurst Paradise with her heifer calf at
foot. Paradise is another Matador sired animal and is bred out of a Mereside
Crackerjack daughter. She sold with her November 2003 calf at foot, Brockhurst
Unanimous, to an undisclosed buyer.
Swindon breeders, JJ & BD Comer from the Moonleaze herd based at
Braydon, successfully bought two lots. The first at 2,600gns was Brockhurst
Ustica, an Espoir son out of an imported cow Untile. Their second purchase
at 2,400gns was Brockhurst Malone a fifth calved cow with her heifer
calf at foot. Malone is a Fiston bred cow whose breeding goes back to
Canfield on her mothers side, and her autumn 2003 calf at foot was by
Ronick Lenor.
A Malone daughter by Ronick Lenor, Brockhurst Phoebe, sold for 2,600gns.
With her heifer calf at foot, Brockhurst Unveil, the outfit was knocked
down to an undisclosed buyer.
In the maiden heifer section, the leading price was 2,500gns. Brockhurst
Ultimate, an April 2003 born daughter by Ronick Right and out of Knockenbaird
Irma, she sold to David and Sheila Thomlinson of the Beeches herd based
at Scaleby, near Carlisle.
Also selling for 2,500gns was Brockhurst Thorn, a September 2002 born
bull by Ronick Matador and out of Lumbylaw Newsflash, a Wilodge Leopold
daughter. He was knocked down to BJ Smith of Wellsbourne, Warwickshire.
In the commercial section many outfits sold well and were offered up
to £1,120 for a Belgian Blue cross cow with a show type calf at
foot and were sold to MA Mainwaring of Oteley, Ellesemere.
