COLLEGE LIMOUSINS GROSS £109,000
A solid trade at Borderway on Friday 29th October 2004 saw an
average of £1071 for the 102 cattle forward.
This well-attended Dispersal Sale on behalf of Joe & Doreen Forster, College
Farm, Greenhead, Brampton, Cumbria was the focal point for a firm trade for
their pedigree College Herd, established in 1984, with the sale grossing over £109,000.
Once again, there was a ready demand for pedigree breeding females, particularly
young stock, with many first-time buyers in evidence.
Topping the sale at 2,900 gns was the December 2002 young bull College Tawny,
a Ronick Hawk son and out of home-bred dam College Ivory. Purchaser was J & K
Metcalf, Park House Farm, Barningham, Richmond, N Yorks.
2,550gns was the price paid for College Unice to join the pedigree Limousin
Edmo Herd of S Edmondson, Crookdale Cottages, Wigton, Cumbria. This January
2003 born maiden heifer was sired by Hartside Jacko and is out of College Dale.
The third top price of the day at 2,300gns was given for College Tammy, a heifer
served by Greenwell Tony. She is by Broadmeadows Tombola and out of College
Niki and joins the Lowrow Herd of LW & CM Todd & Son, Longhurst, Brampton,
Cumbria.
Purchased by AH & GW Roberts, Betws Y Coed, Gwynedd for their Hafodlas
Herd, was College Olive, an outstanding pick at 2,100gns. A daughter of Holly
Amy and by Derrylough Gladiator she was offered in-calf to Ronick Gains and
with her bull calf at foot, College Victor, himself a Greenwell Tony son.
Four females made 2,000gns each with R & M Scott, Thirlwall Castle, Greenhead,
Carlisle purchasing College Paula, a second calving daughter of Ronick Hawk
with heifer calf at foot as well as maiden heifer, College Tavita, sired by
College Pisces and out of College Evita.
S & M Pickworth, Hexham, Northumberland parted with the same figure for
College Rita, a July 2000 born first calver by Fleenasnagael Jarrod and out
of the home-bred dam College Iris. Offered with heifer calf at foot, College
Vita, and guaranteed AI’d to Ronick Iceman, she joins their Dotland pedigree
Limousin herd.
2,000gns was again the selling price for September 2002 maiden heifer College
Tiffany, again by Fleenasnagael Jarrod but this time out of College Penny and
knocked down to R Lines, Killocraw Farm, Bellochantuy, Argyll.
Another leading price of 2,000gns was required to send stock bull Greenwell
Tony on his way to M Mews’ Glendue Farm, Hexham, Northumberland. This
February 2002 born bull from renowned Limousin breeders JT & Mrs J Nattress & Son,
Greenwell Farm, Lanchester, Durham rounded off the day’s firm trade which
grossed £109,000 for the 102 lots forward.
