TOPCLASS’ LIMOUSIN LEADS BRISTOL TRADE AT 3000GNS

Killerton
Topclass, a Ronick Hawk son from Patrick Greed, Columbjohn Farm, Rewe,
Exeter, lead the trade at 3000gns at the Bristol Show and
Sale of pedigree Limousins held on Tuesday 18th May 2004.
This calf, born in late December 2002, carried a beef value of LM+29
and was purchased by R Carter, Twyning Ash, Uley Lane, Coaley, Dursley,
Gloucs. His sire Ronick Hawk, is one of the most prolific bulls in the
Limousin breed and has a track record of siring top priced bulls at pedigree
sales and top carcase animals at the leading primestock shows. Killerton
Topclass is out of Killerton Narissa, a homebred cow by the French sire,
Radar.
Earlier in the day, show judge Peter Kirton, Severn Lodge Farm, Kinlet,
Bewdley, Worcs, had placed this young bull first in his class.
In all, this fledgling pedigree sale saw seven of the eleven catalogued
bulls sell to a useful average of £1672.50. Seven of the nine females
catalogued sold to average £1440.

Mr. Greed also attained the next two leading prices, both at 1600gns.
The first was for Killerton Tennel, the Show’s Supreme Champion,
and a June 2002 born calf by Gabarit son, Grange Nawaz. Out of Rivermead
Fennel, this bull was purchased by D&P Mead & Co, Ebdon Court
Farm, Wick St.Lawrence, Weston Super Mare.
The second was Killerton Uno, a January 2003 born calf. Entirely homebred,
Uno was sired by Radar son Killerton Mickie and is out Killerton Pansy
a daughter of Hortensia. The purchaser was PA & IA Robertson, Brink
Marshlane, Falfield, Wooton under Edge, Gloucs.
Two females reached the lead price of 1800gns. The first was Rosecroft
Rene from Mr & Mrs DK Wheeler, Goddiford Mill, Kentisbeare, Cullompton,
Devon. This October 2000 born heifer was by Loosebeare Noel and is out
of Rosecroft Olivia. She was sold with her first calf at foot, a bull
calf called Rosecroft Vigour by Loosebeare Stanley. The outfit was purchased
by previous buyer D&P Mead & Co.
Matt Brunton, Hill Cross Farm, Holy Cross Hill, Wormley, Broxbourne,
Herts achieved the same price for Thorndon Thora, a coming two-year-old
heifer bred by RCL Furlonger, Hatch Farm, Thorndon Park, Brentwood, Essex.
By Grange Pascal and out of Ballangrew Oprah, this heifer was purchased
by C Runnals, Hill View Farm, Liverton, Newton Abbot.
