RONICK SANDRA AND CALF
SELL FOR 8,100GNS
Topping the Limousin Ladies Day show and sale at 8,100gns was Ronick
Sandra and her bull calf Goldies Unsunghero from Jim Goldie of Townfoot,
Mouswald, Dumfries. Sandra, a full sister to the renowned bull Ronick
Hawk, is a daughter to Broadmeadows Cannon and out of Ronick Esther.
She sold in calf to the 20,000gn bull Sarkley Ragtime and joins the Castlenook
herd of Alan Irving at Toppin Castle, Heads Nook.
The ladies female champion clinched the next leading price tag at 4,100gns
for David and Mary Cormack of Abotts Close Farm, Thirsk. Newstart Tangarine,
a maiden heifer, is by the prolific show winning bull Ryedale Orion and
goes back to Greenwell Ike on her dams pedigree. She sold to R Chadwick
to join the Greeba herd at Isle of Man.

43,000gns TAKES TOP BID FOR HALTCLIFFE HERD
A young bull, Haltcliffe Ullswater (Lot 426), from local
breeders Matt and Craig Ridley secured the top bid of the sale at 43,000gns.
There
much admired bull, a February 2003 born son of Sympa and out of the
imported heifer, Renoncule, won his class in the pre-sale judging and
was bought jointly by EH Pennie & Son for their Sarkley herd and
by CL & FE Jerman of the Glangwden herd.
Local breeder George Hutton of the Cloughhead herd sold the next leading
price bull at 24,000gns. Cloughhead Titanic (Lot 323), an October 2002
son of the noted Heros sire was knocked down to another joint purchase
for J Mullholland of the Liscon herd at Midtown Farm, Great Orton and
R & M Scott of Thirlwall Castle, Greenhead, Carlisle.
Messrs Ridley featured next at 18,000gns for Haltcliffe Umpire (Lot 418),
a Haltcliffe Novel son out of Renoncule again. Umpire sold to J Haughey
of Co.Tyrone, N.Ireland.
A strong entry from the Sarkley herd of EH Pennie & Son attracted
much interest and was led at 15,000gns for Sarkley Tribute (Lot 152),
a son of Greenwell Major and out of a Hartside Jacko bred daughter. He
sold to DR Evans of Caersws, Powys.
