Top of the tree was March born bull, Sarkley Utmost, a son of the French bull, Moero and out of the full genetic sister to the dam of Sarkley Sebastion, which sold for 23,000gns at the May Limousin sale in Carlisle. Sarkley Oriano, mother of Utmost is a former 1st prizewinner at the Royal Welsh show in 2000. Utmost traveled back into Wales with new owners Messrs Thomas, Bryn Farm, home of the Nebo herd.
Snapping at the heels of Utmost was Sarkley Unlimited, who made 5800gns. Sired
by the impressive Malibu and out of one of the herds top-breeding cows, Holly
Jen. Last bidders for this excellent calf were Messrs J Knight, Church Style,
Wasdale, where he will be going to work on the farms renowned suckler herd
next summer. The heifers on offer also provided a brisk trade with two calves sharing
the top spot of 3600gns. First to do so was Sarkley Uvette, which saw
SM McGurkin take home the first Nestor daughter into Northern Ireland.
This smart heifer, out of Sarkley Marietta, a Ronick Gains sired cow,
is in the top 25% of the breed with a beef value of LM+20 |
