HEREFORDS SELL TO 2,000GNS A good quality offering of Hereford cattle were on offer at the first official show and sale on behalf of the Scottish Hereford Breeders Association. Taking the leading price of 2,000gns was Baldinnie 1 Clyde consigned by John A Cameron & Son from Kilconquhar, Fife. This March 2003 born bull, sired by Boundless 1 Nemo and bred from a Costhorpe 1 New Edition sired daughter, he sold to R Balfour of Cupar, Fife. Following at 1,700gns was the first entry into the sale ring from P & J Martin of Denholm, Hawick. Blawearie 1 Winston, an October 2002 born bull sired by the Hereford sire of the year 2004 Glenlees Storm, and bred from a Romany mother, Winston was knocked down to R Sabiston of Finstown, Orkney. A first prize winning entry from the Baldinnie stable of John Cameron & Son sold for 1,500gns. Baldinnie 1 Ceylon, another Nemo son and out of a home bred cow Cindy, he was successfully purchased by the events judge George Barbour of Auchengibbert, Dumfries. The reserve overall champion was next in the price ratings at 1,450gns and was shown by JRB Wilson & Sons of Cowbog Farm, Kelso. Romany 1 Apollo a 20 month old son of Crickley 1 Figurehead was sold to WSL Muir of Harray, Orkney. Averages – 9
