Show and Sale for Pedigree & Non-Pedigree Galloway Cattle FRIDAY 4th NOVEMBER 2005

On Friday 4th November 2005 Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their annual autumn show and sale of Galloway cattle.

The pre-sale judging was most ably carried out by Mr A Waugh of Kilnstown and Mr P Lang of Berryfell Farm.

The male championship was awarded to Monarch Of Over Barskeoch a very smart 20 month old bull from Messrs Wallace of Hannaston, Dalry, Castle Douglas.

The female championship was awarded to Demesne Tina one of a marvellous consignment of maiden heifers from Mr G Noble of Demesne, Bewcastle, Carlisle. This heifer later sold for 800gns to DF Whiteley, Pond Farm, Scawton, Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

The top price in the female section was 1,000gns for Roan Border Chas an exceptional in calf heifer who took the 1st prize ticket in her class and the overall reserve champion female award. She was from Messrs D Jackson & Sons of Roan Farm, Newcastleton and sold to DF Whiteley of Pond Farm.

The trade throughout was very selective with quality attracting keen interest however lesser sorts were more difficult to cash.
