HAINING HOUSE BULL TOPS AT 3,300GNS

Local breeders G & C Neve & Son of Haining House Farm, Brampton lifted the top price and silverware at the spring show and sale of Galloway breeding cattle on Friday 25th February 2005 at Carlisle.

Their home bred bull, Image of Haining House, an October 2001 born son of Mascot of Haining House and out of a Yokel of Dodgsonstown bred daughter, lifted the overall male championship and leading price tag of 3,300gns for their much admired bull. Telephone bidding secured the purchase for the Executors of HJS Clark of Kesworth Farm, Sandford, Dorset.

Messrs Neve also sold their junior bull for the next leading price of 1,200gns. Benny of Haining House, an April 2004 born bull sired by Barlaes Bob and bred from their home bred cow Hetty 5th of Haining House. Benny was successfully bought by JJ Paterson of Terrona, Langholm.

Leading the female section was the overall female champion shown by R & M Fergusson of Castle Douglas. Selling for 2,200gns was their very stylish homebred bulling heifer, Barlaes Nancy 118th a daughter of Glenkiln Copyright. She was successfully knocked down to Troloss Farms of Elvanfoot, Biggar.

In the non pedigree entries a bulling heifer from L & H Kennedy of Barron House, Gilsland, Brampton secured the top price of £980. She was sold to JS Langhorne of West Bolton Farm, Leyburn.

The small entry of Belted Galloway attracted much interest and sold to a top price of £1,000 for an in calf young cow from LH & MA Handley of Croasdale House Farm, Clitheroe. Their August 2000 born entry sold in calf to Boxmoor Earl and due early May was knocked down to CT Robinson of Greeacres , Bishop Auckland.

The sale included the reduction sale from the Browhaze herd of SK & SD Brown from Trowbridge Wiltshire. Leading the consignment at £920 was a yearling heifer which sold to J Wilson of Lawn House, Hexham.
