On Friday 5th November 2004 Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their annual Autumn show and sale of Galloway Cattle.
The pre-sale judging was most ably carried out by Mr T Moore of Softley and Mr S Neve of Haining House.
The male championship was awarded to Demesne Atom, a superb two year old bull consigned by Mr CG Noble from Bewcastle. The bull attracted fantastic competition in the ring as the bidding topped at 3,500gns with Messrs Elliot of Burnfoot Of Ewes securing the final bid.
The female classes were very competitive with the championship being awarded after much deliberation to the senior heifer class winner Demesne Sophie. This very correct and stylish heifer was again from Mr CG Noble and went on to top the female market at 1,300gns selling to Messrs A Carruthers of Peelahill.
Trade throughout was tremendous as a huge crowd of prospective purchasers drawn from throughout the United Kingdom bid freely to ensure prices showed an appreciable rise on the year.
Bulling heifers both non-pedigree and pedigree were wonderful to sell with prices regularly breaking the £800 barrier.
