On Friday 28th February 2003 Harrison and Hetherington held their annual spring show and sale of Galloway Cattle. The pre-sale judging was most ably carried out by Mr Gordon Kyle of Spoutbank.
The bull class was extemely strong with the championship being awarded to regular supporters Messrs RA McClymont & Son of Kirkstead, Selkirk for Kirkstead JP an exceptionally well bred Huntley Yarrow son. The bull later realised a satisfactory 2000gns to Mr Leonard of Chippenham. Also topping the 2000gns mark were Messrs Neve of Haining House with their Reserve Champion bull Immense of Haining House. This stylish October born bull travels to Mr Fox of Longrigg, Eskdale.
In the female section Messrs Gilligan of High Creoch had a succesful journey from Gatehouse of Fleet being rewarded with the Female Championship for Curly 8th of Creoch an in calf heifer which realised 880gns and travelled north to Messrs Porter of Islay. Catching the eye in the bulling heifer section were two very smart dun heifers from Messrs J&M Maxwell which topped at £800. Trade throughout was excellent as a packed ringside of buyers drawn from throughout the United Kingdom bid strongly resulting in a very satisfactory trade. Averages: |
