Charolais bulls sold to a top of 2,900gns at Carlisle on Wednesday June 29th 2005 at the breed society’s official summer sale conducted by Harrison and Hetherington. Leading the trade at 2,900gns was Edenhurst Untouchable CH28, a 19 month old Oldstone Egbert son and out of a homebred cow by Fleets Vibrant. Consigned by local breeder, Peter Vasey, of Wetheral, Carlisle, he sold to I Carlile, Dumfries. A bid of 2,500gns secured Fury Volcano CH27 for AC Austin, Dumfries. This 15 month old from Northern Ireland breeder, Pat Hackett, Clogher, County Tyrone, was by Doonally New and out of a Lanesboro bred dam going back to Brampton Fourstar. Next to go at 2,300gns was Thrunton Utmost CH24, a November 2003 born Moncur General son from the Campbell family, Colin, Ian and John, of Whittingham, Alnwick. Utmost was knocked down sold to MJ Telford, Ringford, Castle Douglas. Flintshire based vet, Esmor Evans offered the rising two year old Maerdy Unmissabull CH27 for 2,200gns to AR Gibson, Evenwood Gate, Bishop Auckland. Unmissabull was by Maerdy Paddy and out of a hombred dam by the noted Maerdy Grimaldi. The same vendor offered Maerdy Ulcer CH27 for 2,000gns to M Guthrie and Son, Kirklandside, Kilmarnock. This 19 month old and one of twins was sired by Rosanna Magic and out of a Tattenhall Impeccable bred cow. A second 2,000gns call was made for Jean Atkinson’s (Thorpe Bassett, Malton) 18 month old Bassett Ultimate, a Barleyfields Leonard son and out of a Goldies Flambeau bred dam.
