SAMSON LIFTS TOP PRICE AT 4,000GNS North Yorkshire breeders, Messrs C & JR Terry & Sons, secured the top price of the sale at the Blonde Society Sale at Carlisle on Wednesday 17th July 2002.
At 4,000gns Messrs Terrys home bred bull, Fountains Samson, a Febus son and out of a Whistley Dollar daughter, lifted the Reserve Junior Male ticket together with the Reserve Overall Male and Reserve Supreme Championship rosettes. He was successfully knocked down to Mr RM Spensley (RMS Livestock) of the Bolton herd based at Leyburn.Taking the next leading price was a December 2000 born bull from Messrs GH & MG Barber of Ellicombe Farm, Crediton, Devon. Megray Recipe sold for 3,100gns and sired by Megray Obession and our the of Royal Show 2000 champion heifer Megray Olivia. Recipe travels back to the South West country for Mr RAJ Mitchell of Trevella Farm at Cornwall.Close behind at 3,000gns was the Overall Male and Supreme Champion also from the Barber family of the Magray herd. Megray Senator, a March 2001 son of Kedworthy Mine, half brother to Megray Ontario that sold for 6,600gns. Senator is out a Dodo daughter that goes back to the noted cow Fortescue Verity. He was bought by Cumbrian breeders Messrs Harrison & Sons of Sleddale Hall, Shap, Penrith.Messrs Barber also lifted the next price tag in line at 1,800gns with another Obession sired bull. Megray Striker, a January 201 bull, was purchased by Messrs RM Fishwick & Son of Thornship Farm, Penrith. Averages - 13 bulls £1,875.38, 6 females £649.25. |
