Bulls top at 6000gns and females soar to 5200gns

Top price at the Blonde Society Sale at Carlisle 8th May went to Northampton based breeders Hackleton Farms, who sold their January 2000 born bull Hackleton Renown, by homebred Hackleton Mellors (Ganaway Jasper) and out of Hayton Inoz (Aubin).

Having won first in his class, he had a sale day weight of 1025 kgs, and a beef value of BA37.

He caught the eye of Messrs R & H Braid of Wamphrey, Moffat, Dumfriesshire.

Close behind at 5200gns was the Supreme Champion of the day from John Owen, of Kirkintilloch, Glasgow.

Easterton Rowan, a September 2000 born Kinaston Nyle (Kinaston Henry VIII) son out of Easterton Maxine (Stocksfield Aristocrat) had a sale weight of 751kgs.

He was successfully purchased by Messrs L & PA Haygarth of Kelleth, Penrith, Cumbria.

Then in at 5000gns was Richard Barnes of Pocklington, York, with his third prize winner, Misbourne Roland, bred by Michael Baughan of Amersham, Bucks.

Born in March 2000 by French bred Lazare (Freddy) and out of Misbourne Galaxy (Bromfield Taurus) he was quickly snapped up by Mountquhanie Farms, of Cupar, Fife.

4700gns was the next top for the bull section, being paid for Glenbarry Reggie, a May 2000 born Avonparks Milkybar son (Whistley Dollar) and out of Hadley Harmony (Whistley Dollar).

He was offered for sale by Barry and Christine Allsop of Melton Mowbray, Leics and was pruchased by Messrs JR & HH Thomas, of Chirbury, Montgomery.

Reggie had a beef value of BA19 and a sale weight of 895kgs.

In at 4400gns was the Laird family of Kirkcaldy, Fife, offering their January 2001 born bull Lochhead Superior by Hillhead Lewis ( Hillhead Clint) and out of Hayton Henrietta (Ranna Bill).

With a beef value of BA21, he was knocked down to Lowther Park Farms, Penrith, Cumbria, their third Blonde bull purchased this year.

4000gns was next in the price list, for Ian and Chris Calderbank of Malden, Essex.

The first prize winner with a beef value of BA25, Blackwater Sherpa was born in Feburary 2001, by Druk Lance (Tonnerre) and out of Blackwater Hermeny (Billingford Alberic) he want to an undisclosed scottish buyer.

In at 3800gns was the blue ticket winner from Peter Weightman of Peterlee, County Durham, with thei first of his nine bulls.

Hallfield Rhino, a November 2000 born Ballygowan Noble son (Whistley Dollar) and out of Hallfield Iona (Whistley Dollar). He was soon purchased by Mr WH Scott of Hexham, Northumberland. Rhino had a beef value of BA10.

Meanwhile, Mr R Williams of Leominster, Herefordshire saw his offering Pembridge Ringleader, born July 2000, by Pembridge Marksman (Bradbury Evan) and out of Brynelen Lucy (Brynelen Falcon) being sold to Messrs A & G Warcup of Dudoo, Berwick upon Tweend, for 3600gns.

Three further bulls sold at the 3500gns mark: Roy Kinnish of Bridgnorth, Shropshire sold Kinaston Rainger, born in June 2000, by Kinaston Henry VIII (Madeni Bleddyn) and out of Kinaston Lass (Tonnerre) to Wolsingham Park Farms, Bishop Auckland, County Durham.
