REPORT: Michele Wilde, one of the Belgian Blue cattle breeds biggest enthusiasts, fittingly set a new centre record of 8,000gns at Borderway Mart for Belgian Blue females on Wednesday 28th August 2002. Attracting the 8,000gns ticket was Ridge Dean Tania a January 2001 heifer by Serieux de Fooz. Tania is full sister to sale entry Ridge Dean Totty winner of the Junior heifer class Royal Highland show 2002 and full brother to the Male Champion at this years Royal Highland show. She also goes back to the great brood cow Ridge Dean Jessie who has done sterling work in the herd. Paying 8,000gns was Mr Alan Barnes of Cowden, Great Harwood, Blackburn, Lancs. Next in the price list at 7,500gns was Ridge Dean Totty a full ET sister to Tania. She was successfully bought by BK Ryder Farms, of Newton Farm, Moffat. Another ET sister selling was Ridge Dean Tansy who also had the showing ability behind her from winning the Reserve Junior Female Champion ticket at the Royal Welsh Show 2002. She was knocked down for 6,000gns to Messrs Crowden and Irving of Blencowe, Penrith. Wilde about Blues had been a much talked about event with the ringside coming from all parts of the UK from Northern Ireland, Orkney and as far south as Devon.
