FEMALES LEAD BRISTOL SALE A total clearance of females dominated the sale at the Bristol Sales Centre for the Beef Shorthorn Society spring show and sale.
Heading the prices was a cow and calf unit at 2,400gns from Keith and Jackie Oliver of the Park herd based at Liskeard, Cornwall. Topsy Gem of Upsall a young cow carrying her second calf and with a heifer calf at foot, was sold to RT Grose of St.Austell, Cornwall to develop his small herd. A lovely stylish roan maiden heifer from MD McMillan of Cheltenham was sold for 1800gns. This October 2003 born heifer, a daughter of Glenbrae Roan Banner and out of a Loch Awe Lysander bred mother, she was sold to SS Horton of Swindon, Wilts. A maiden heifer from Lake House Estate was knocked down for 1,550gns. This red heifer sired by Dunsyre Mad Max and bred from a Chapelton Dakota mother, was bought by RT Grose, Cornwall. The leading price for the bull section was 1,000gns for a June 2003 born entry from Keith and Jackie Olver with Park Warleggan. He was sold to DR & MI Rutherford of Odiham, Hants. Averages - 1 bull £1,050.00, 6 cows served and/or suckling £1,107.75, 8 heifers served or maiden £1,148.44. <<back |
