TURBO SCOOPS CHAMPIONSHIP AND TOP PRICE OF 6,500GNS

Cairnsmore Turbo - 6,500gns

Wigtownshire breeders Mr & Mrs B Landers of the Cairnsmore herd based at Newton Stewart lifted top honours of the championship along with the leading price of 6,500gns for their homebred bull Cairnsmore Turbo (lot 224) who already has many show successes to his name from the summer shows of 2003. Turbo, a February 2002 born son of Cairnsmore Nike, was knocked down to JE Goddard & Son of Gall, Lockerbie.

Selling for the next leading price of 3,200gns was the reserve supreme champion entry, Oldcambus Toby (lot 238) from R & K Drysdale Ltd of Eyemouth, Berwickshire. Toby, a roan coloured August 2002 born bull by Dunsyre Prop Forward and out of an Uppermill bred cow, was sold to Messrs R Mitchell & Sons of Whitriggs, Hawick.

In the female section, the top price of 2,800gns was achieved by Messrs James Biggar of Grange, Castle Douglas. Glenisla Crocus (lot 269), a second calved cow, sold with her autumn born heifer calf at foot to Mr R Charlton of Linnelwood, Hexham.

Females - Endeavour Tessa (lot 258) 2,500gns; Oldcambus Tazmin (lot 251) 2,400gns; Colonywymott Lancashire Rose 3rd (lot 265) 2,200gns; Hallsford Campion (lot 242) 2,000gns.
