Beef Shorthorn bull sells for 3,000gns at Carlisle Beef Shorthorns sold to a top of 3,000gns on Friday 23rd May 2003 at Carlisle at their first special spring sale.
Colnvalley Sorcerer, a March 2001 born bull of Chapelton Fulcrum, secured the top bid of the sale at 3,000gns and sold to an undisclosed buyer. Consigned by Douglas McMillan of Upper Coln Farm & Stud, Cheltenham who runs 40 breeding females, welcomed the new fixture for the traditional breeds. Local breeders, AN & HS Tomkins of the Hallsford herd at Haggbeck, Carlisle sold the next leading price tag of 2,200gns. Hallsford Basalt their March 2001 born bull, also sired by a Chapelton bred bull and going back to Glenisla breeding on his dams pedigree, sold to Matson Farms, Windermere. Leading the female section were two females both selling for 1,300gns from MD Abrahams of Newfield Farm, Ripon, N.Yorkshire. The first was Newfield Priceless Tansy selling with her bull calf at foot going to JC Hope & Son of Corn How, Loweswater, Cockermouth. The second entry was Newfield Roana who also sold with a bull calf at foot and was knocked down to P Ashby of Rose Tree Farm, Otley. Averages - |
