STRONG DEMAND SEES TOTAL CLEARANCE FOR BAZADAISE CATTLE A packed ringside of buyers saw a total clearance of cattle at the official society sale on behalf of the Bazadaise Cattle Society on Friday 27th May 2005 at Borderway Mart, Carlisle. Jointly leading the sale at 2,700gns was an in calf heifer from HP Gostling & Sons of Western Green, Norfolk. Ultime, an imported two and a half year old heifer, is a daughter of Oscar and out of Orge and was sold to Messrs McCulloch of Brook Farm, Hambleton, Lancs. Also reaching the 2,700gns was a cow and calf unit from the same home. Unite, another imported animal from Messrs Gostling, this Oscar bred daughter sold in calf to Saturnin and with a heifer calf at foot Western Green Alicia. Purchaser was D Forster of Low Houselop Farm, Bishop Auckland. Close behind at 2,600gns was a cow and calf outfit again being bought by D Forster of Bishop Auckland. This unit was part of a major reduction sale from the Ant Valley herd consigned by CB Arnold Ltd of Norfolk. Salamanca Nelly, a November 1997 born cow sold with her bull calf Ant Valley Vole. The bulls on offer reached to 1,700gns for a 13 month old bull consigned by CB Arnold Ltd. Ant Valley Viking, a son of the imported sire Polux and out of Glympton Isabelle, he was purchased by RC Harrison of Langside Farm, Melrose. Averages -3 bulls £1,400, 20 cows and heifers served and/or suckling £1,371, 15 served heifers £1,382, 7 maiden heifers £805. |
