Selling for 1,700gns was Curzon Egremont, a February 2004 born son of Blelack Blackberet and out of a Royal Added Value bred daughter. This stylish bull had earlier received the reserve male champion ticket and was sold to local enthusiasts F & E Thomlinson & Son of Bolton Park, Carlisle.

Following at 1,600gns was Yearsley Progress from Yorkshire breeders TA & P Johnson of Clarence House Farm, Brandsby. Progress, a January 2004 born bull sired by Fordel Eisenhower, has already had a successful show season this summer winning Junior Champion and Reserve Male Champion at Notts & Newark show along with Reserve Supreme Champion at North Yorkshire County show. He was sold to A Cooper Farming of Swalcliffe, Banbury.

In the female section a heifer and calf from the draft consignment of the Fresh herd of Ruth Stevenson of Kirkby Stephen, secured the leading price tag at 1,600gns. Fresh Fran, a Netherton Royal Sovereign bred heifer, sold with her young heifer calf at foot Fresh Fancy, to join the Black Thorn herd of Karl Hanock based at Stockport, Cheshire.

Also from the Fresh herd was Fresh Petal, an incalf heifer, who sold for 1,000gns. This Inveresk Equal sired heifer was knocked down to R Gardner of Millbeck, Kendal.

In the collective female classes, a maiden heifer from NJ & B Pittams of the Dark Lane herd based at Brecon lead this section at 900gns. Dark Lane Elizabeth, a Netherton Black Cruz daughter, had earlier in the day won the female and reserve supreme championship tickets and sold to new members A & P Ross of Tebay, Penrith.

Averages - 2 bulls £1,732.50, 1 served heifer £945.00, 8 maiden heifers £661.50, Draft Sale of the Fresh Herd (11 head) £756.95.
