At the Aberdeen Angus Society spring show and sale held at the Bristol Sales Centre on Tuesday 3rd May 2005 a nice quality offering of stock was presented. Trade throughout was good especially for the bulls.
Leading the sale were two bulls at 2,000gns. The first to reach this price was the reserve champion Gear Echo from Mark Pilcher of St.Ives, Cornwall. Echo, a July 2003 son of Nightingale Pretender whose mother, Meadowvale Pride S2 a cow that has the highest 200 day milk statistics in the breed. He was sold to Messrs McDowall & Campbell of Ryde, Isle of Wight. The other 2,000gn price ticket was an in calf cow from AL Smith-Maxwell of Upton on Severn. Beeston Penny Z004 sold carrying her third calf and was purchased by A Cooper Farming of Banbury. The next leading price was 1,700gns for the champion bull entry from NJ & B Pittams of Brecon. Their home bred bull, Dark Lane Jesse C116 is a son of Dark Lane Jasper and out of a Royal Stockman bred daughter, and was knocked down to N Mail of Pill, near Bristol.
The sale included draft sales from the Bramshaw herd belonging to Mr & Mrs HA Smith based at Salisbury, and from the Almsworthy herd consigned by Sir Ranulph Fiennes of Somerset. Taking the top price at 1,300gns was an incalf heifer from the Bramshaw herd. Bramshaw Hill Princesse C141, a daughter of Meadowvale Bertie and out of a TLA Northern Samurai bred mother, she was sold to RJ Jenkins of Cowbridge. Averages:- |
