Aberdeen Angus bulls topped at 4,200 gns at their annual Spring Show and Sale. Tegsnose Enigma shown and exhibited by Nigel Hammill changed hands at 4,200 gns. Sired by Wedderlie Kathak and out of Castle of Mey Ellena 21st. His new home is with local farmers, M/s Awde, Broadmeadows, Melmerby, Penrith.
Next in line at 3,700 gns was the 1st prize and Reserve Male and Reserve Supreme Champion, Duncanziemere Musketeer, from Alaistair Clark, of Lugar, Cumnock, this bull sired by Rawburn Transformer, and out of Ty-Isha Melody 2nd; the purchaser being Slatehouse Farms, Hagley Bridge Farm, Bathealton, Somerset. A bid of 3,600 gns secured Marr Jumor Eric sired by Galcantry Preditor and out of Marr Julie Erica. Marjory Anderson, Dalcrest, Cumnock, Ayrshire was the exhibitor with new owners being J D Bentley & Son, Lane Head, Middleton in Teasdale.
Females topped at 1,600 gns from F & J Andrews, Holt Farm, Holmfirth, Huddersfield with Holtsteads Pride, a daughter of Nightingale Regent. Pride was 1st Prize and Female Champion and finding her new home with HA Blackwood, Houseburn, Muirkirk, Ayrshire. Leading Prices
