COLLECTIVE SALE OF ALPACAS
Monday 30th August 2004

Alpacca

Local and distant Alpaca breeders filled the auction ring for the first collective sale to be held at Carlisle on Monday 30th August 2004.

Leading the sale at 3800gns was a homebred white stud male from local breeder Jim Dent of Blueberry Alpacas based at Newbiggin, Penrith. His two year Peruvian Huacaya, Blueberry Ramon Philip, carries Bozedown breeding through his sire and dam lines, was finally sold to join the Paradise Stud based at North Dykes, Great Salkeld, Penrith.

A June 2003 born open female from Stagshaw Alpacas of Susan Burnell, Northumberland, sold for 2,200gns. This white huacaya, with a micron of 19.4, was sold to local breeders Askerton Castle Alpacas based at Brampton, near Carlisle.

Selling for 1,350gns was a pregnant female from Lesley and Roy Monk who were dispersing their SPL Alpacas. SPL Jackie, a mid grey with a white chest, was due with cria shortly sold to Messrs Firth of Oaklea, Chester.

Messrs Monk also sold two entries both reaching 1,300gns. The first was for SPL Chamonix a white female suckling a female cria which sold to join Askerton Castle Alpacas. The other entry a black huacaya studmale SPL Nightshade, who has only been used for the first time this summer, was successfully knocked down to Mr K Newton of Ettrick Hall, Selkirk.

With the growing interest for Alpacas becoming more apparent in the north, the sale proved to be very successful with vendors leaving delighted with the sale throughout.
