British Alpaca Futurity
Saturday 4th November 2006

A premier event in the world of the Alpaca Industry was held at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday 4th November 2006, when the country’s very first Futurity event was staged.

The day included the top breeders of the Alpaca world to battle it out to clinch the coveted best in show title. As the judging classes drew to a close the grand finale was won by Berkshire breeders Bozedown Alpacas with Bozedown Galaxy.

Other events taking place throughout the day were fashion shows exhibiting the finest clothing which can be produced from the fibre of the Alpaca, and in the evening a dinner and elite auction was presented.

The UK Alpaca auctioneering team of David Thomlinson and Heather Pritchard conducted the auction of eleven entries. Prices ranged from 4,000gns and sold up to 11,000gns for an unproven sire, bought by Gloucestershire breeders Oakview Alpacas.

With the success of this event, plans for 2007 are already underway.
