ST JOHNS CHAPEL SWALEDALE EWES AND GIMMER LAMBS

On Saturday 2nd October 2004 at St John’s Chapel Mart, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held the annual sale of 2,515 Swaledale Breeding and Feeding ewes, Gimmer Shearlings, Swaledale Gimmer lambs and Rams.

An increased entry met a slower demand than last year, the overall average for ewes and shearlings falling by £7.48 per head, warrented ewes averaged £41,20, Broken mouthed and feeding ewes averaged £21, gimmer shearlings £65.44 and gimmer lambs £19.17 (- £12.94).

Swaledale Gimmer Shearlings: £100, £95, £92 (2), £85 South Wellhope; £92, £82 (2), £78, £75 Hill Farm; £68 Whitehall; £66, £60 Ward Bray Farm; £60 Ireshopeburn.
