On Tuesday 31st August 2004 Newastleton Mart opened
their seasonal auction with their annual sale of Mule ewe lambs, Blackfaced
ewe lambs followed
by store lambs.
2102 head went under the hammer with a fantastic turn out of buyers on
a beautiful day made all sellers very pleased with prices of all stock
very buoyant.
Top price in the mule section was £83 being paid
for Stonegarthsides top lambs and going to Mr J Ions, High Thorneyburn.
Top Blackfaced ewe lambs were sold by M/s Carruthers, Peel a Hill and
purchased by Mr Shiell, Rennieston.
