On Friday 17th September 2004 at Middleton in Teesdale
Mart, Harrison & Hetherington
Ltd at their annual prize show and sale an entry of 6,845 Swaledale Gimmer
lambs was presented to a large gathering of purchasers.
Although prices
fell below last years extreme rates, trade was generally higher than
had been anticipated with an overall average of £42.91.
The show for 10 crowned lambs, sponsored by Barclays Bank Plc was judged
by Mr J Reed, The Knarr who made the following awards:
1st – Winning the Stan Davis Cup, Messrs R Marwood & Son, Long
Green £104 to Mr J Reed.
2nd – Winning the Perpetual Trophy for the best pen from ‘A’ District – Messrs
J C & J White, Rigg Farm - £255 for Mr M Wallace.
3rd – Messrs R Marwood & Son, Long Green - £128 to Mr
M Wallace.
