BREEDING SHEEP AT LOCKERBIE - TUESDAY 21st SEPTEMBER 2004
All classes of store lambs were very keenly bid for selling to £40.50
for a pen of Texels from Tundergarth Mains. Hill Cheviots were a flyer
and sold to £40 for a pen from M/s J Halliday, Cowburn, Corrie.
Many more store lambs could have been sold to advantage.
At the Firms annual sale of pedigree Texel Rams, a small but quality
offering met an animated demand and would sell far better than last year.
The show, which was kindly sponsored by MacMin Ltd, was judge by Mr Gordon
Rae, Muirhead, who awarded the Championship to M/s R & J Orsborne,
Castlehill, Durisedeer and then went on to back his decision by purchasing
at £580. The reserve went to Mr J McKerrow, Groughfoot, Linlithgow
with a shearling, which sold at £500
