BREEDING SHEEP AT LOCKERBIE
At the firms Annual Sale of Top Hill Cheviot Wedder lambs on Tuesday
14th September 2004. the largest ringside of buyers for several years
resulted in a buoyant trade
with
the 1037 Cheviot lambs averaging £36.27 a rise of £2.98 on
the year.
The Judge Mr Robert Black, Craighouse, Corrie awarded the Championship
to a delightful pen from M/s Paton, Castle Crawford which sold at £38.80.
The second prize went to Mr Ogilvie Jackson, Cossarshill which sold at
the days top prize of £39.80.
In all a very satisfactory day was
had with buyers old and new very keen to purchase the top feeding lambs.
North Country Cheviots wedders lambs were also a flier and sold to £42.50
for a strong pen from M/s Halliday, Capelfoot. Texel crosses store lambs
old to £42.50 for Texels from Mr Stewart Dodds, Tundergarth Mains.
Many More lambs of all classes could have been sold to advantage.
