Kirkby Stephen Annual Prize Show and Sale of Texel Rams and Females

On Tuesday 7th September 2004, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held the Annual Prize Show and Sale of 1,287 Pedigree and Pure Texel, Texel cross Females and Rams.

Champion Ram with the Judge Mr J Holden and Mrs R Buckle.

The show, sponsored by The British Texel Sheep Society, was judged by Mr J Holden, Bury, Lancashire. The classes were exceptionally well supported and the Championship went to a shearling exhibited by Messrs K & R Buckle, Buckles Farm. Reserve Championship went to Mrs R Stevenson, Howgill Foot for a shearling ewe.

Class 1 – Pure Texel Female.
1st – R Stevenson - £550 to Mrs Guy, Marrick.
2nd – R Stevenson - £500 To Mr Watson, Cockermouth.
3rd – G Pyman, Penrith - £140 to Mr J Brotherton.

Class 2 – Pure Texel Ram.
1st – K & R Buckle - £520 to Mr M Robinson, Nateby
2nd – D J & S Dixon, Hartley Castle - £400 to Mr N Hodgson, Ravenstonedale.
3rd – I Parsons, Yew Tree - £500 to Messrs D Curr & Son, Newbiggin on Lune

In the Texel cross classes the champion pen was a pen of shearling gimmers from mr M Kennedy, Roman Vale which sold for £86 to Mr Burke, Cheshire.
