MIDDLETON IN TEESDALE SWALEDALE GIMMER LAMBS

On Friday 19th September 2003 at Middleton in Teesdale Mart, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held the annual Prize show and sale of 6474 Swaledale gimmer lambs.

The mart was filled to capacity with customers resulting in the average price rising by £10.76 on the year to level at £51.65.

Lambs were forward in good condition after the exceptional sunny summer which suited the high fells.

The show sponsored by Barclays Bank PLC was judged by Mr GR Brass, Soulsby who made the following awards :- 1st CR Raine & Sons, Stanhopegate, £260 to Messrs Booth, 2nd R Marwood & Son, Long Green, £100 to R Hargreaves, 3rd AE Iceton & Sons, High Birkhatt, £170 to T Nattrass.
