At the Lockerbie show and sale of Hill Cheviot lambs on Tuesday 16th September 2003, an excellent entry of 2248 lambs (double last year entry) met a strong demand and many more could have been sold to advantage. The judge Mr Hamilton, Glenmanna awarded the Championship to M/s Paton, Castle Crawford and then went on to back his decision by purchasing them at £37. The second prize pen went to Stirkfield Farms, Broughton which sold at £37.50. The third prize pen went to Mr Common, Crossdyke. Other leading prices included Mr Jackson, Cossarshill at £36.80 and Mr J Laurie, Carterton at £36.20. North Country Cheviot lambs sold to £41.20 from M/s M & R Weir, Townfoot and to £40.80 from M/s Halliday, Capelfoot. Suffolks cross lambs sold to £40.20 Crofthead Farming Co, Moffat Hill Cheviot £37.50 Stirkfield Farms, £37 Castle Crawford, £36.80 Cossarshill, £36.20 & £35 Carterton, £35 Bombie.
