LAZONBY MULE SHEARLING GIMMERS

On Thursday 11th September 2003, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd conducted the Annual Special prize show and sale of 6,393 Mule gimmer shearlings at Lazonby Mart, kindly sponsored by Jobson Farm Health and Youngs Animal Health.

John Allan, of Oak Bank, Long Marton, with his gimmer shearling champions which sold to £128, with the judges, father and son Richard and David Wain, of Ashbourne, Derbyshire, and auctioneer Ted Ogden

The judging was undertaken by Messrs Wain, Ashbourne who had an extremely difficult task due to the tremendous quality forward, after much thought the following prizes were awarded 1st and Champion JWR Allen, Oak Bank £128, 2nd WL Grainger, Eamont Bridge £130, 3rd HG Jackson, Little Beck £133 and 4th PJ Elliot, Bank House £116.

A very large company of buyers was present from all across the UK and a sale average of £100.14 per head was achieved
