Shape and tight skins proved to be the main attraction as commercial sheep farmers from throughout the United Kingdom packed the ringside. The top price in the female section being £380 paid by Mr Adams, Torhousiekie Farm,Wigtown for an exceptional pen of shearling ewes. Rams were wonderful to sell, friend and prime show rival John Campbell, Thrunton paying the top price of 1250gns. Beltex x Texel rams were particularly sought after and as a result the consignment of well over 100 rams averaged a staggering £554.32, Ewes averaged £157.64, Shearling gimmers £171.02 and Ewe lambs £91.24. Leading prices:- Texel Rams 1250gns, 1150, 900, 850, 800, 750 (x2), 700 (x2), 680 & 650 (x3). Breeding ewes £380, £300, £260, £230, £220, £210 & £200. TERCROSSET FLOCK On Friday 29th August 2003, Harrison & Hetherington held the first production sale on behalf of noted prime lamb breeders Thomas and James Whitefords Tercrosset flock. The pens of shearling rams were shown in terrific form being a great credit to the breeders, hard work and attention to detail. The resultant trade was fantastic with a top price of 1500gns sold to well known sheep breeders Messrs Benson of Gamswell Farm, Broughton. Local flockmasters also saw potential in sheep, bidding very strongly, with Messrs Jenkinson of Clifton Moor paying 1200gns for a very stylish correct sheep.
