On Friday 13th September 2002, at Kirkby Stephen, Harrison & Hetherington Limited conducted their sale of 600 Shearlings and Prize Show and Sale of 4390 NEMSA Gimmer lambs. The Mart was packed with customers throughout the sale, every sheep exchanging hands during an extremely brisk trade. Shearlings averaged £75.07 and Gimmer lambs averaged £63.35 an increase of £28.72 from the corresponding sale in 2000.

The Show sponsored by Youngs Animal Health, Carrs Billington, Pye`s Feeds and Barclays Bank plc was judged by Mr J Winter, Appleby, Mr P Comelius, Cornwall with Mr M Watson, Kirkby Stephen acting as Referee.

2nd WC Porter & Son, Riddings selling for £100 to R Heigh
3rd MW Skidmore & Sons, Hanging Wells selling for £92 to Mr Gate
Class 2 – 10 lambs confined to Kirkby Stephen NEMSA Members with an entry of less than 200 lambs
1st A & JW Burbeck, High Stennesheugh selling for £80 to J Winter
2nd IH & J Brown, Oak House selling for £72 to JW Little
3rd Messrs Brownrigg, The Lane Farm, selling for £73 to D Dick.
