On Thursday 12th September 2002, Harrison & Hetherington conducted their monthly sale of breeding cows and heifers with calves or in calf and bulling heifers.

A nice show of cattle were forward and buyers from throughout Scotland and the North of England bid freely and as a result an excellent trade ensured. Top price on the day was £1280 for a Limousin heifer with a bull calf at foot from Mr S Hall, Prior Hall, Ireby.

Bulling heifers were shown in smaller amounts, with an ample crowd of buyers in attendance. Bidding for the better quality sorts was strong, whilst others were easier.

Averages- 123 heifers with calf at foot £733.41, 79 cows with calf at foot £629, 56 bulling heifers, £430.71
